I know this piece might come across, as morbid, dark, or depressing,
I promise that’s not my intention though, rather a solace for when you’re stressing…
Because you see, for me personally, remembering the nature of our existence,
And the way everything is temporary, helps me walk with less resistance.
It helps me step outside my fear, and keep an open heart and mind,
It helps me remember what matters most, and leave the rest of it behind,
And most of all it helps me with, seeing the beauty all around,
For when I really sit with death - everything becomes much more profound!
Like the taste of blue Doritos, or the way sunshine feels on my skin,
Like mending a broken heart, from a strength I found within,
Like the smell of my vanilla candles, or the first time I hear a new favorite song,
Like a hug from a best friend, I haven’t seen in far too long,
It also helps remove any kind of worry, about what others may think or say,
We’ll all be gone in 100 years time, might as well have fun along the way!
Last thing I’ll say is it also helps me, make decisions big and small,
I just think of myself in those final moments, and what choice she wants to recall.
